US Synthetic has an immediate need for a Student Engineer located in Orem, UT. The Student Engineer will assist Process Engineer/Specialist with all aspects of assigned process and related machines. Perform audits and trainings and use Lean methods to promote continuous improvement.

What You Will Do:

  • Assist Engineer/Specialist with all aspects of assigned process and related machines
  • Troubleshooting
    • Assist production operators with machine malfunctions; assist maintenance when needed
    • Assist production floor with quality improvements
  • Own and be a part of PDCAs for the process
  • Learn and apply Six Sigma principles
  • Create, audit and maintain standard works operators to use for training on process, i.e. Critical Knowledge and Job Breakdown Sheets
  • Run and train others in process meetings
  • Work a flexible schedule based around school schedule
  • Follow all company policies (Attendance, No Tobacco Products on Campus, Illegal Drug & Alcohol, Family Medical Leave Act, Personal Appearance, Personal Electronic Devices, Vacation & Personal Time, etc.)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED is required
  • Immigration sponsorship not available for this role
  • Must have been accepted to a bachelors engineering program at a university with intent to graduate

Physical Demands:

  • Combination of sitting, standing and walking for eight or more hours
  • Occasional repetitive motions
  • Use of Safety Equipment (Safety glasses, Steel-toed boots)

  • Lean and Six Sigma knowledge
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to apply things learned at school
  • Ability to teach and explain methods, standards, etc. to others (Job Instruction)
  • Ability to speak in front of crowds
  • Team attitude
  • Advanced computer skills, i.e. Microsoft Excel, Word, JMP, Pro-E, etc.
    • Some database knowledge, i.e. SQL, Statistics
