Job Description

The Security Officer at First National Bank Alaska is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the bank's employees, customers, assets, and facilities. This role involves maintaining a visible presence, monitoring surveillance systems, responding to incidents, and enforcing bank security policies and procedures. This is a private environment at the First National Bank headquarters building and surrounding areas with the corresponding levels of traffic (employees, visitors, customers, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Monitors visually, electronically, or audibly, a variety of assigned areas to include buildings, parking lots, and surrounding grounds.
  • Ensures own actions and those of others observe maximum levels of safety and compliance with client rules and policies.
  • Verbally de-escalate stressful situations to ensure the safety of client employees and customers.
  • Examines doors, windows, and other areas of the Client's property to determine they are secure.
  • Reports and records data such as property damage, unusual occurrences, etc. in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Warns violators of rule infractions and may apprehend or expel violators.
  • Notifies Client employees of visitors wishing to see them.
  • Assists in properly responding to a variety of emergencies or disasters in order to preserve life and property, including but not limited to fire safety, active shooter protocol.
  • At least minimum basic computer skills required.
  • May check heating, lighting, sprinkling, security, ventilation, fire, etc., systems to make sure they are operational.
  • May also be combined with other position duties.
  • Notify supervisor is safety and sanitation standards are not being met. Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit's success also may be assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • At least two (2) years of security, law enforcement or military experience.
  • Must be able to obtain and pay the Alaska Guard License fee of $97.00 prior to beginning work.
  • Must be able to cooperate and work as part of a team with fellow employees, customers, and clients.
  • Must be able to make decisions in the moment with little to no supervision.
  • Contract requires employees to speak, understand, read, and write English.
  • Must meet and adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations set forth by the company and client.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Weather: Indoor/Outdoor. Occasionally exposed to arctic conditions.

Noise level: Moderate to Loud.

Description of environment: Environment will vary based on the facility assigned to.

Physical requirements: Employee is required to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Frequently to constantly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk/hear, see, taste/smell, and carry weight/lift.
