Unit Description:
Education/Skills Required:
1. Current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State required.
2. Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing required.
3. AHA-BLS is required within 6 months of hire or a current non-AHA-BLS card will be honored up to date of renewal.
4. Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.
5. Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) preferred.
6. Must complete Certified Diabetes Education program within four years of hire.
7. Experience in teaching diabetic self-management preferred.
8. Experience with insulin pumps preferred.
9. If not CDE, minimum of 15 hours of certified continuing education credit related to Diabetes Management in the past year required.
10. Outpatient experience preferred.
On-call: Not required.
