Job Title: Optical Engineer III

Location: Onsite – Redmond (5 days a week)

Duration: 12 Months (Possibility of Extension)

Pay Rate: $75 – 85/hr on w2

Summary:

• In this role, you will work with a team of scientists and engineers using internally developed simulation tools to predict system-level performance of the products and prototypes. The analysis of simulation results will be used to directly improve product/prototype performance. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role contributing to products used by millions.

Job Responsibilities:

• Use simulation tools to model end-to-end performance of display systems
• Design and analyze image pipelines for both camera and display systems
• Implement and evaluate tone mapping, gamut mapping, and other image quality techniques
• Report simulation analysis to establish system specifications for displays and ensure product success
• Collaborate cross-functionally to explore concepts, drive system-level performance, and deliver compelling end-user experiences
• Write real software contributing to production systems

Must-Have Qualifications:

• Strong systems-level engineering expertise – ability to architect solutions and see projects through end-to-end
• Demonstrated depth in theory and practical application – not just tuning, but full pipeline design and understanding of why things work
• Experience with both camera and display image pipeline design
• Experience with tone mapping and gamut mapping
• General background in image signal processing and digital signal processing
• Experience with optical or distortion correction, and color imagery
• Deep knowledge in several of the following areas:
• - μLED, OLED, LCD, LCOS, DMD, etc.-based displays
• - Display metrology/calibration
• - Image signal processing and digital filters
• - Camera ISP and display pipeline architecture
• - Colorimetry and color space conversions
• - Imaging waveguides, image quality metrics, human perception
• Experience with algorithm development (e.g., convolutions, Fourier transforms)
• Deep proficiency in MATLAB

Education:

• BS in Engineering, Physics, Optics, Computer Science, Color Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent work/education experience
• MS or PhD in Optical Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related field preferred.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• 5+ years of experience in research or advanced display/camera system development
• Experience designing—not just tuning—image pipelines for both display and camera
