As the Ombudsman Senior Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in individuals' lives, making a significant impact through:

• Visit long term care residents within assigned territory, investigate complaints, complete regular routine facility visits within assigned counties. Manage individual cases by documenting complaints, coordinating with facility staff to address concerns, and ensuring timely follow-up with residents and families. Mentor volunteers in case management, documentation, and timely case resolution.
• Assist Program Director in supervision of staff and volunteer ombudsmen within the region, ensuring they are knowledgeable about resident rights, complaint investigation procedures, and advocacy strategies. Ensure monthly paperwork is submitted is accurate and done in a timely manner.
• Assist Program Director in identification of continuing education training and workshops for staff and volunteer ombudsmen. As appropriate, conduct presentations for residents, families, facility staff, and community organizations to educate them about resident rights and the role of the ombudsman. Outreach to county based Offices for Aging and local senior centers to provide community education on the Ombudsman Program and residents’ rights. Completes continuing education as required by state and federal regulations and policy.
• Assist Program Director in advocating for policy changes at the state or regional level to improve resident care and protect resident rights, as appropriate and consistent with objectives and procedures outlined by the State Ombudsman.
• Participates in quarterly and annual data audits and provides trend analysis in complaint types at facility and regional levels.

Ombudsman Senior Coordinator Minimum Salary: $ 25.00/hour

Ombudsman Senior Coordinator Maximum Salary: $ 28.00/hour

Ombudsman Senior Coordinator Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:30 - 4:00 (35 hours/week)

• NO On-Call Shifts required
  

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management or a related field
• Current Certification as a NYS Ombudsman
• 3 - 5 years of experience working with a diverse population
• Must have a personal cell phone
• Valid driver’s license, proof of current car insurance and registration and access to a reliable, working vehicle
