Non-Ferrous Scale Operator C&D Scrap Metal Recyclers Houston, TX Employment Type: Full-Time
The Role C&D Scrap Metal Recyclers is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Non-Ferrous Scale Operator to support our non-ferrous operations. This
entry-level management position is responsible for accurately weighing inbound materials, coordinating closely with the non-ferrous warehouse, and ensuring that all non-ferrous materials are graded correctly and processed to ship-ready quality. The role also involves managing traffic flow, closing out open tickets, maintaining a clean and organized scale area, and assisting with material upgrades and inventory tracking.
Key Responsibilities - Collaborate effectively with multiple areas of operations to support smooth operations, demonstrating strong teamwork and communication across all levels
- Accurately weigh and record all inbound non-ferrous loads.
- Collaborate with the non-ferrous warehouse team to ensure correct grading and any necessary adjustments.
- Maintain clear communication with buyers regarding pricing based on customer needs.
- Track and report material transfers (upgrades/downgrades) to ensure inventory accuracy.
- Ensure all purchased non-ferrous materials are presented to the warehouse as finished goods or in ship-ready condition.
- Follow all morning startup and end-of-day closing procedures.
- Ensure smooth traffic flow in and out of the scale area.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the scale area and identify opportunities for operational improvement.
- Provide exceptional customer service by interacting professionally and respectfully with all customers, ensuring a positive experience.
Work Schedule & Location - Full-time position located in Houston, TX.
- Occasional travel to satellite locations may be required.
Qualifications - Strong customer service and communication skills.
- High attention to detail and organizational ability.
- Proficiency with computers and basic office software (e.g., Microsoft Office).
- Ability to quickly learn and operate computer weighing software.
- Experience in a recycling or industrial environment is a plus but not required.
- Scale Experience is a plus but not required.
