We're looking for a qualified Sign Language Interpreter to work 1:1 with a student who is deaf or hard of hearing in a school setting. This is a unique opportunity to be a consistent, trusted communication partner who helps bridge the gap between spoken language and signed communicationso one student can learn, grow, and fully participate in their school day.
Serve as the students primary interpreter during classroom instruction, group work, school activities, and other academic or social situations.
Translate spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa, ensuring clear and accurate communication at all times.
Adjust interpreting style based on the students needs and feedback.
Build a strong, respectful, and professional relationship with the student and work collaboratively with teachers and staff.
Promote access and inclusion across all learning environments.
You have an EIPA score of 4.0 or higher or hold a valid RID/NAD certification (required).
You have at least 2 years of sign language experience (preferred).
Youre comfortable interpreting in a school setting and working closely with a single student.
You understand the importance of consistency, confidentiality, and cultural sensitivity.
You're reliable, flexible, and ready to be part of a students daily learning journey.
Focused 1:1 work with one studentbuild strong rapport and provide consistent support.
Regular weekday hoursno weekends or evenings required.
