Job Description

GIS Technician

Paradigm is seeking a GIS Technician to support our client, a leading full-service geospatial solutions provider. This role is ideal for candidates with a background in GIS, remote sensing, or related geospatial applications, and an interest in applying those skills within the utility sector.

Type: Contract-to-hire

Location: Portland, OR | Onsite

As a Senior Technician, you will:

  • Support the modeling and updating of transmission lines (69kV to 550kV) using GIS tools and, where applicable, PLS-CADD.
  • Apply remotely sensed data (e.g., LiDAR) to existing transmission line models and mapping workflows.
  • Assist with data management, quality control, and spatial analysis tasks to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Collaborate with engineers and analysts to integrate GIS data into design and planning efforts.

Requirements:

Our skills and experience wish list includes:

  • At least 1 year of relevant experience in GIS, remote sensing, or transmission line engineering support.
  • Familiarity with PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, or PLS-TOWER (preferred but not required).
  • Proficiency with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) and CAD tools (MicroStation experience desirable).
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
