Automation Engineer | Paw Paw, MI

Salary Range: $79,000 - $124,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement industrial automation systems, including PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, and robotics.
• Program, configure, and troubleshoot PLC and HMI systems for manufacturing processes.
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for automation-related issues to minimize downtime.
• Collaborate with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to identify automation opportunities and improve operational efficiency.
• Develop and maintain detailed technical documentation for automation systems, electrical schematics, and control logic.
• Oversee the installation, commissioning, and validation of new automated equipment and production lines.
• Ensure all automation solutions comply with safety standards, industry regulations, and company policies.

Recommended Qualifications

• Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Rockwell, Siemens) and troubleshooting.
• Experience with industrial robotics (e.g., Fanuc, KUKA, ABB) programming and integration.
• Expertise in SCADA/HMI system design, configuration, and implementation.
• Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols (e.g., EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, Modbus TCP/IP).
• Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex automation system issues in a manufacturing environment.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with specific robotics platforms (e.g., KUKA, Fanuc, ABB) or machine vision systems (e.g., Cognex, Keyence).
• Familiarity with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), SCADA historian data, or data analytics for OEE/process improvement.
• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for cell layout, fixture design, or mechanical integration.
• Understanding of industrial networking protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Profinet) and IT/OT cybersecurity best practices.
