Associate Design Manager

The Disney Corporate Real Estate Design team provides subject matter expertise in architecture, interior architecture, environmental design and campus planning for CRE design & construction projects. Be A Part Of The Story!

A day in the life of the Associate Design Manager…

  • Perform CRE due diligence and project initiation studies through site & program analysis, test fit drawings and conceptual space plans, stacking diagrams, preliminary code assessments, internal presentations, and project scoping & budget
  • Work closely with business units to ensure that the company or segment identity is appropriately emphasized throughout each project while emphasizing TWDC workplace strategy and design standards
  • Partner with external architectural consultants, signage / graphics, and furniture vendors to establish and implement design intent on projects
  • Contribute to TWDC standards for workplace environments, space types, FF&E, graphics and signage
  • Collaborate with Disney stakeholders (Human Resources, Enterprise Technology, Real Estate Operations) for an integrated approach and workplace solution
  • Prepare design materials (e.g. product specifications, drawings, graphics) in support of smaller scale facility refresh and reconfiguration projects
  • Advise on consistency of function, appearance and aesthetics across TWDC properties

     

You will need these skills…

  • Passionate about design at multiple scales and disciplines (architecture, interiors, campus planning, furniture, graphic design, environmental graphics and/or landscape design)
  • Informed about current workplace planning strategies, data and benchmarking
  • Proficient with the architectural design process and with preparing quality design presentations and construction documents
  • Interested in stepping outside the boundaries of traditional design practice
  • Comfortable working in a wide range of projects and tasks including office refreshes, small tenant improvements, and larger renovations
  • Knowledge of current building products and materials, furniture manufacturers and systems
  • Independently productive, able to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
  • Collaborative and eager to grow and share in a multi-disciplinary project team environment
  • An excellent written, verbal, and graphic communicator
  • +5 years of experience in a full-service architecture or design firm with direct experience in document delivery and construction observation for commercial office space
  • Software proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, Bluebeam Revu, Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, In Design), AutoCAD LT, Autodesk Revit, 3D Modeling software including Sketchup, Rhino or equivalent
  • Familiarity with the applicable local and regional codes that inform a building design

     

Education is important to us, here is what we are looking for…

  • Bachelor’s degree in a core design discipline such as Architecture or Interior Design

     

It would be a plus if you had these skills…

  • 5-8 years of project experience in a full-service design firm preferred
  • Experience with the architectural design of technical spaces, including pre- and post-production facilities
  • Software Proficiency: Microsoft Project, Rendering software such as V-Ray, Enscape, etc.
  • Progress toward licensure as a California Registered Architect or California Certified Interior Designer (CID)

The hiring range for this position in California is $103,500.00 - $138,800.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
